SMB: Do Not deploy your SMB with the handle extended. Once the SMB has been safely deployed. Only then do you extend your handle to its operating position.
Wreck / Cave: Like the SMB, Do Not extend the handle when laying line in to the wreck or cave. Only on exit is when the handle is to be used. This is to prevent any line catching the handle.
